Outlook GLA Oils
Outlook GLA Oils
The expected price trend(up to middle 2025) of Borage Oil GLA 20-22%, Evening Primrose Oil GLA 9-10% and Blackcurrant Oil GLA 13-15%.
Borage Oil
- The UK harvest of borage with an average high GLA content (20-24%) has been completed. GLA levels are significantly below average, not reaching 22%. However, yields were satisfactory and appear slightly above average. Due to remaining stock from the 2023 high GLA harvest, no shortage of GLA 22-24% is expected.
- The harvest for borage with a lower GLA content (17-19%) once again showed low GLA levels, ranging from 15% to 19%, with an average around 17.5%. Yields were about average.
- Market demand for borage oil remains stable, with prices expected to hold steady. However, there could be increased pressure for a larger price difference between low and high GLA variants. The 2024 harvest is expected to meet demand for the coming year.
- The overall supply of ORGANIC borage should be sufficient to meet demand. Demand for ORGANIC borage has rebounded from the dip experienced a year ago.
Evening Primrose Oil
- The Evening Primrose crop in China is holding up well. While the crop size is smaller than usual for a normal year, existing stock from previous years is expected to cover next year's demand, ensuring a stable market and price situation.
- The supply of Evening Primrose GLA 10% remains limited.
- Production of Evening Primrose outside of China is very restricted. In Poland, there is a small, stable production, and this year’s harvest appears promising. Apart from China and Poland, only minimal volumes are being produced, if any.
Blackcurrant Oil
- The GLA content in Blackcurrant seed from this year's UK harvest was about average.
- We anticipate no issues with the availability of Blackcurrant Oil to meet demand; however, GLA 15% remains relatively limited.
